Birthday Celebrations Raise Cash for Whizz-Kidz

The children’s charity Whizz-Kidz which improves the lives of disabled children by providing them with mobility aids such as wheelchairs is to benefit by £1,000 thanks to Serco staff based at Forth Valley Royal Hospital. They took part in birthday celebrations to mark Serco’s 25 years as a listed company.

The event was one of 25 organised by Serco across the UK, and a number of activities were arranged at Forth Valley Royal.

Primary 3 pupils from Kinnaird Primary School in Larbert chose names for another two of the hospital robots and got the opportunity to see them in action and learn more about the work they do, fetching and carrying food, linen and waste. Some of the children are pictured with Robbie and Geri!

In addition, accompanied by ‘pirates’, the two classes took part in a treasure hunt around the hospital and grounds.

Meanwhile staff who have achieved 25 years service with NHS Forth Valley and Serco were presented with a pin and a certificate by Valerie Michie, Serco Health Managing Director. Throughout the celebrations entertainment was provided by members of Falkirk Folk Club.

The day ended with a tug of war challenge between junior doctors, porters and catering staff, with the portering staff crowned the eventual winners.

The £1,000 for Whizz-Kidz was  raised on the day due to the generosity of staff, patients and visitors.
