A letter from Mary McDermott
My family and I wish to pass on our thanks to Dr Wright Consultant Respiratory Physician and his team for their care of the late Mr John McDermott.
Their communication about my fathers condition and treatment was second to none. We feel that special mention is needed for the staff of ward B12. At a time when nursing of often painted in a poor light, as a family we felt important to mention when nursing is done at its best. The staff at all times were respectful and caring to us as a family. Nothing was too much to ask of them. They gave as time as a family with my father but continued their care.
Most importantly was their care of my father. I know from him that he appreciated all their efforts. They showed my father dignity and respect even after his death. They did all that they could to ensure that my father was never left in pain. When my mother and I came to pick the death certificate even then they told us what a privilege it had been to nurse my father. That simple statement meant so much to us at a difficult time.
We would be grateful if you could pass on our thanks to the staff and the clinical ward manager E. Ramage as we believe that a team can only be as good as those who lead it.
Our kind thanks also to Out of Hours doctor Dr Borrows, CAU and AAU staff during my father’s admission.
