Membership is free to all NHS Forth Valley staff – once registered, you will be issued with a shelcat library card.
Items can be borrowed from the Library in Forth Valley Royal Hospital, where the librarians can post books in internal mail to staff based elsewhere in NHS Forth Valley.
To borrow an item, go to Shelcat website, log in using your Shelcat library card and use the Self-Issue function if Library staff are unavailable, or browse and place a hold on a book if you are accessing Shelcat remotely.
Items not held by Forth Valley NHS can normally be requested from another source. Log onto Shelcat to browse the library catalogue for all participating NHS libraries. If you wish to borrow an item held by another library, you can make the request directly from your shelcat account or alternatively email library staff with your request.
NHS Forth Valley are holding part of the NHS Scotland national journal archive, where older journals are available for reference only and should not be removed from the library. You can request journal articles not held in the library collection either via your Shelcat account or by emailing library staff directly. Please check first that the item you are looking for is not available on the Knowledge Network. Please always familiarise yourself with copyright rules and, if you have any queries, contact: Emily Fotheringham (email@example.com), or Anne Catherine Barrett (firstname.lastname@example.org).
