Maggie’s is coming to the Forth Valley Royal Hospital in winter 2016, based just a short walk from the Oncology Unit, providing free practical, emotional and social support for people with cancer and their family and friends.
The new Maggie’s Centre will be there for anyone and everyone affected by cancer, with no referral required, offering a programme of support based on evidence proven to strengthen physical and emotional wellbeing. The Centre will be a place with professional staff on hand to offer the support people need; a place to find practical advice about benefits and eating well; a place where qualified experts provide emotional support; a place to meet other people or simply sit quietly with a cup of tea.
Maggie’s Forth Valley has been generously supported by Walk the Walk, who have granted £3million towards the build of the new Centre designed by Garber & James Architects. Once open, Maggie’s Forth Valley will complete Maggie’s coverage of all major cancer centres in Scotland and will serve a population of around 280,000 people.
