The Unit has all single rooms with some ensuite bedrooms and a number of enclosed garden courtyards. Other facilities include dedicated accommodation for patients with special requirements including young people and mothers with babies, a gym, visitor rooms, therapy rooms (physiotherapy and occupational therapy) and quiet sitting rooms.
Emphasis is placed on therapeutic care with a range of interventions based on need, and patients are given protected time to focus on a programme of activities designed to support their continued recovery once they leave hospital.

Outpatient mental health services are also provided locally in Falkirk (Falkirk Community Hospital), Stirling (Stirling Community Hospital) and Clackmannanshire (Clackmannanshire Community Healthcare Centre). Liaison Psychiatry (older people) is based at Forth Valley Royal Hospital.
