This information is for adults who has type 2 diabetes and take insulin.
People under age 16 should follow different rules, and pregnant women should also follow other rules.
When you are unwell your body doesn’t behave normally to insulin. Continue with your usual tablets and insulin, unless you are vomiting.
If your glucose is above 14 on more than 2 occasions and you feel unwell you may need some extra fast acting insulin. If you have been taught how to do this, go ahead. If you do not have fast acting insulin contact the diabetes team, your GP or NHS 24.

- Drink plenty of fluids
- Eat or drink some carbohydrates
