Who are we?
Our service is made up of a small team of psychological therapists (Clinical Psychologists, CBT therapists and trainees) who work together to promote and support the wellbeing of older people in the Forth Valley area. We recognise that individuals can often have complex physical and emotional needs and we work closely with other services to ensure a consistent approach to care.
What do we do?
We provide support for older people experiencing mental health difficulties (e.g. anxiety and depression, adjustment and complex bereavement) through individual assessment, formulation and evidence-based therapies. This often involves helping the person to understand factors that may be maintaining current difficulties and exploring ways to support them to manage and overcome these. We also provide neuropsychological assessments to help understand the underlying causes of significant changes in people’s memory and other cognitive abilities. Our inpatient work focuses on supporting staff and promoting the psychological wellbeing of patients through psychological assessment, formulation and interventions.
Where are we based?
Our outpatient appointments are mostly held in either Falkirk Community Hospital or Stirling Health and Care Village. We provide input to inpatient Wards 4 & 5 in Forth Valley Royal Hospital. Most of our referrals to the service come from other health professionals within the trust.
Opening Hours: The service’s core working hours are 9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday.
