Top tips for quitting: Keeping busy, using distraction as well as your chosen method of support ie NRT , Champix or vaping. Let people know you have stopped smoking and get the support from everyone to reinforce your new habit, that includes us as your personal advisor.
Favourite Colour: Purple
Favourite food: Chinese, probably chow mein.
If you were an animal what would you be and why: A dragon, I could fly and breath fire what’s not to love. (and my kids think I’m one anyway)
Which celebrity would you invite to dinner and why: Hugh Jackman because I love his movies and think he would be good company.
Laura Boyle, Stop Smoking Advisor
Role within Service: Stop Smoking Advisor – helping people to quit smoking
Length of Service: Nearly 2 years as an advisor but worked previously as admin in the stop smoking service.
What you enjoy about your job: The best part about my job is meeting lots of new people all the time and getting to know them. Whether it’s the client I’m helping to stop smoking, their kids that come with them to the clinics or the staff at health centres and the hospital; meeting lots of people who come from different backgrounds and have different life stories always make for an interesting day.
Top tips for quitting: Using all available resources and help you can get (apps for your phone which tell you how many days smokefree you are, puzzles and colouring in to keep you and your hands busy, nicotine replacement and support from family and friends). There is so much out there to help you quit and it’s available for everyone, so use it to your advantage.
Favourite Colour: Light blue
Favourite food: Steak pie….although I love food so would probably say fajitas, pasta and birthday cake are top of the list too.
If you were an animal what would you be and why: I’d like to be a bird so I could fly wherever I wanted and see lots of new places around the world (without having any travel costs!)
Which celebrity would you invite to dinner and why: Ashley Banjo – I’m a highland dancer and love everything related with dance. So although I would be inviting him for dinner I’d really be making him perform before every course and show me how to street dance. And I wouldn’t say no to him bringing along the full crew even if it was a bit of a squash in the kitchen!
