Local GP and Renal Team Celebrate Prestigious Awards
A local Forth Valley GP and a specialist hospital team have both received high-profile recognition in national and regional awards, highlighting excellence in patient care, leadership and community impact across NHS Forth Valley.
Dr Michael Blackmore, a GP in Grangemouth, has been named winner of the Inspiring Fellow Award at this year’s Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) Inspire Awards.
Selected from more than 300 nominations, Dr Blackmore, who also serves as Chair of the RCGP West Scotland Faculty, was recognised for his outstanding leadership and commitment to improving GP recruitment and retention across Forth Valley and the wider West of Scotland. He is also a strong advocate for coaching and mentoring, supporting the next generation of GP students and trainees as they begin their careers.
In a separate success, NHS Forth Valley’s Renal Unit team was honoured at the 2026 Central FM Awards, where they received the NHS Team Award.
The awards ceremony celebrates individuals and teams from across Forth Valley who make an exceptional contribution to their local communities. This year’s event showcased a wide range of inspiring finalists and winners, including NHS staff, with recognition focused on dedication, compassion and outstanding service to patients and the public.
Jason Graham, Operational Manager for Ambulatory Care Diagnostics and Theatres said: “I’m delighted that the Renal team has won the NHS Team Award at the recent Central FM awards. This is particularly special as nominations were made by members of the public and patients, who have experienced first-hand the team’s commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care. Their teamwork and dedication truly embody the spirit of an NHS hero.
“The team’s success highlights their professionalism, compassion and impact, and the difference they make every day. Together, these achievements underline the dedication of NHS staff across the region and their continued commitment to providing exceptional care.”
