Due to high demand, the temporary Covid-19 testing unit in Denny has been extended and will now offer tests on Thursday 21 January and Friday 22 January 2021. Appointments for Thursday can only be booked after 6pm on Wednesday 20th January or on Thursday morning for appointments on Thursday afternoon.
Its deployment is in response to an increased number of positive tests for COVID-19 in the Denny and surrounding areas. The test centre is located at Denny Sports Centre, Station Yard, Town House Street, Denny FK6 5DX.
Anyone who lives or works in Denny, Dunipace, Bonnybridge, Haggs, Longcroft can make an appointment via the GOV.UK website or by calling 0300 303 2713. Residents do not have to be displaying symptoms of COVID-19 to make an appointment (they should select the option ‘My local council or health protection team has asked me to get a test, even though I do not have symptoms’ when booking a test).
Appointments will only be released each evening for the following morning and in the morning for appointments that afternoon.
Appointments will be available to book after 6pm on Sunday 17th January for the morning of Monday 18th Jan and will then be released each morning and evening for appointments later that day or on the following morning.
Once appointments are fully booked the testing centre will not appear online as a venue option or be available for call handlers to book however new appointments are released each morning and evening so if there is no availability please check online or call back later.
People are asked not to turn up at the testing centre without booking an appointment in advance. Anyone attending should also wear a face mask or covering and observe the rules on physical distancing by staying at least two metres apart.
Councillor Cecil Meiklejohn, Leader of Falkirk Council, said: “Deploying this temporary test centre will allow more people to be tested more quickly and help stop the virus spreading even more.
“It is a quick process and we’d urge anyone living in these areas to make an appointment as soon as possible.”
Dr Graham Foster, Director of Public Health, NHS Forth Valley, said: “We have seen a sharp increase in the number of positive cases in Denny and the surrounding areas over the last few weeks and evidence of spread within these local communities.
“I would therefore encourage local people to get tested even if they currently feel well as some people can have Covid-19 without displaying any of the common symptoms.”
