Nicola Henderson, NHS Forth Valley Dietitian and Chair of the British Dietetic Association’s (BDA) Specialist Nutrition Advisory Group for Older People, received the BDA Specialist Group of the Year 2014 award at the BDA Annual Awards Ceremony in June 2014.

The BDA has 18 Specialist Groups made up of dietitians who work or have an interest in certain specialist areas. Nutrition and hydration is paramount to the care of older people and, as a specialist group, the Nutrition Advisory Group for old People provides members with holistic evidence based guidance and advice on management of complex dietetic issues often seen within this challenging care area.

Nicola said “I am delighted that our group’s work over the past year has been rewarded. We have showcased impact and demonstrated innovation within our profession, particularly through our participation at the BDA conference, BDA Live, and have included member involvement in our work. Achieving this award would not have been possible without the support and help of all of our group members and committee. I am also grateful for the support and encouragement from my Forth Valley colleagues.”
