Update on Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC)
In July 2023, the Scottish Government confirmed that a desktop survey of the NHS Scotland estate which had identified a number of NHS buildings across Scotland which may potentially contain RAAC, based on their age and construction. Eight of these buildings are in the NHS Forth Valley area (listed below).
NHS Forth Valley had previously commissioned an external surveyor to carry out site inspections and investigations which did not identify RAAC in any of these properties. Further surveys are also being carried out across Scotland as part of a national survey programme coordinated by NHS Scotland Assure.
