One of the RCDS team will phone you to agree an appointment in the RCDS clinic on a Tuesday or Wednesday.
You may get this phone call more quickly that other test results you have had in the past. Please don’t feel worried about this as the RCDS is designed to give you a fast diagnosis.
When you attend the RCDS clinic, the doctor will review the results of your blood tests and scan, if you have already had one, and inform you if any further tests or referrals are needed. Most of our patients/service users are discharged back to their GP, sometimes with additional advice or guidance. Some patients may not have cancer but may need a referral to another hospital specialist or team if their test results indicate something that requires further investigation or discussion.
For a small number of patients, cancer is identified. In these cases, the RCDS team will work closely with you and your doctor to ensure you are transferred to the appropriate specialist and kept fully informed.
More information about identifying, treating and managing cancer conditions can be found on NHS Inform.
