STEP (Scottish Type 1 Education Programme)
STEP is our education programme for people newly diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Our aim is to provide you with the understanding, confidence and ability to adjust your treatment.
STEP will enable you to enjoy a flexible lifestyle whilst maintaining good blood glucose control. Our approach is person-centred, so we’ll support you as an individual to manage your diabetes.
Screening appointments
Everyone with Type 1 diabetes is offered an annual screening appointment. The screening appointment will be with a health care assistant.
One of our team will write to you with your results and a care planning booklet. You are then invited to contact us to arrange review if you would like to discuss your results, talk about your experiences and discuss how you feel, set goals, and create an action plan to help you manage your diabetes.
Your healthcare professional can help you to understand the results of your diabetes checks, provide you with information and advice, and talk about different options available to you.
