Our specialist Stoma Care Team provides expert advice, support, and education to people living with a stoma, their families, and the healthcare professionals involved in their care.
We are committed to delivering compassionate, person-centred support – from pre-surgery preparation through to long-term management – helping individuals adjust both physically and emotionally.
Working closely with hospital teams, community services, and GPs, we ensure high-quality, safe, and consistent care. Our aim is to promote confidence, independence, and wellbeing, while also equipping healthcare professionals with up-to-date guidance and training to support best practice in stoma care.
The service is led by specialist nurses who understand the physical and emotional changes that come with having a stoma.
We are here to support you, your family and carers-every step of the way. If you have been told that you may be having a stoma (colostomy, ileostomy, urostomy) formed during your surgery (even if it is only being considered), you will be referred to the Stoma Care Service.
We provide
- Pre- and post-operative support – before and after surgery
- Practical teaching – helping patients and loved ones feel confident at home
- Support with prescriptions – for stoma products
- Annual reviews – where clinically indicated, guided by your specialist nurse
- Home visits – for extra support when needed
