New GP to Take Over the Running of Drymen Health Centre
A new GP is to take over the running of Drymen Health Centre from 7th December 2015 after the vacant GP practice was advertised by NHS Forth Valley.
Dr Waqar Cheema, who has been working at the health centre as a locum GP, said: “I’m delighted to be taking over the running of the Practice which is located in a lovely rural community. I know the area well and I’m looking forward to providing continuity of care for patients and their families and building relationships with the local community.”
The Drymen Practice, which provides a range of local health services for around 1,450 patients, has been managed by NHS Forth Valley since August 2014 following the resignation of the single-handed GP. A number of locum doctors were put in place to ensure it remained open until it could be returned to the management of a GP.
Miss Tracey Gillies, NHS Forth Valley’s Medical Director, said: “We are pleased that Dr Cheema has agreed to take over the Practice as this will provide long-term stability and continuity of care for local patients.”
