Update on National Treatment Centre Inpatient Ward

Following the submission of a potential solution to address the outstanding pipework and fire compliance issues, Falkirk Council’s Building Standards Department requested additional information and clarification on a number of points. The building contractor (Portakabin) has now responded to these points and further feedback on the proposed solution submitted is expected in the next few weeks.

Once a solution has been approved and agreed by all parties a detailed workplan will be developed to take forward the required changes, along with a timetable for the completion of this work.

In the meantime, an interim NTC service is in place at Forth Valley Royal Hospital to support the delivery of additional orthopaedic operations for patients from other NHS Boards until the new National Treatment Centre ward is operational. NHS Forth Valley is also continuing to provide a range of outpatient clinics and surgical procedures for a number of NHS Boards.

NHS Forth Valley will continue to work with all of the key stakeholders involved, locally and nationally, to progress this important project, taking account of the statutory processes and approvals required.
