Go Best Service Awards

A major public procurement award has been presented in recognition of the standards achieved within the facilities services provided at Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Larbert. Serco, the international service company, received the award at a special awards ceremony held at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole hotel on the evening of the first day of the Procurex National 2012 exhibition.

Serco was crowned the winner in the GO Best Service – Medium and Large Business category for its ‘outstanding success and achievement’ in delivering high quality and highly efficient services for NHS Forth Valley. The company’s contract director for Forth Valley Royal Hospital, Mike Mackay, was delighted to receive the judges’ praise; “To win a top accolade in the country’s only awards scheme that’s dedicated entirely to excellence in public procurement is a credit to our hard-working team. We’re all passionate about providing NHS Forth Valley with the highest quality of service and we’re absolutely delighted to have received this prestigious award.”

Maureen Coyle, NHS Forth Valley’s Project Director for Forth Valley Royal Hospital, said: “Serco beat off stiff competition to win this prestigious award and it’s a great achievement, especially when you take into account that Forth Valley Royal Hospital has only been fully operational since July 2011.”

Organised by procurement specialists BiP Solutions, the National Government Opportunities (GO) Excellence in Public Procurement Awards recognise and reward excellence and achievement in this multibillion-pound sector.  For the past nine years, the awards have been the benchmark by which progress in commissioning, procurement and public service delivery has been measured.

Commenting on the success of the award finalists, Grahame Steed, Managing Editor of Awards sponsor Government Opportunities (GO), said: “Once again the National GO Awards have set the standard for public procurement across the country. In difficult times, it is clear to see that buyers and suppliers are rising to the challenge of delivering better services for less, and the GO Awards are the perfect way of sharing and showcasing some of the best initiatives from the past year. Every finalist had a compelling story to tell and those that have gone on to further success in the Awards deserve all the recognition they get.”
