Congratulations to Gemma Senior, a midwife at Forth Valley Royal Hospital, who has been awarded the Gillian McMillan Inspirational Midwife of the Year Award for 2020 in memory of midwife Gillian McMillan – a former NHS Forth Valley  midwife who inspired everyone she worked with.

Gemma was nominated by her colleagues who said she is a shining example of the midwifery workforce. They described her as a kind and supportive midwife who guides and encourages students to continue to develop their knowledge and skills. Her approachable, pleasant and calm manner was also highlighted by her colleagues who say she is always ready to help and support others and always works in a professional, positive and caring way.

Gemma is also committed to continuous professional development and is keen to promote the latest research and evidence to help improve the way maternity care is delivered.
