Enhanced Contact Tracing Measures
Anyone identified as a close contact of somebody who has tested positive will be asked to self-isolate for 10 days and get tested, even if they have been vaccinated.
Enhanced contact tracing measures may also be put in place, where required, to help contain the virus and prevent onward spread within local communities across Scotland. This means that NHS Test and Protect contact tracers may also, in some circumstances, request that contacts of close contacts self-isolate and take a test, to help prevent onward spread of the virus, even if they too have been vaccinated.
Covid-19 testing for people with symptoms
If you have symptoms of Covid-19 including:
- a new persistent cough,
- high temperature,
- loss of taste or sense of smell,
please do not leave home – you should go online immediately and request a test. If you can’t get online, call 0800 028 2816. If symptoms worsen, or last for more than 7 days, call 111.
For more information about testing and contact tracing visit the Test & Protect page.
Covid-19 Testing Helpline
The national Covid-19 Testing Helpline can be reached on 119. This number is mainly used by people seeking support in booking PCR tests; reporting test results; ordering LFD kits for home delivery; understanding instructions; reporting test kit problems and translation services.
Covid-19 testing for people without symptoms
Rapid lateral flow home tests are widely available for people who do not have coronavirus symptoms. These can be picked up from local walk/drive-through test sites, a number of local pharmacies or ordered online.
A number centres have opened in Forth Valley to provide tests for people who don’t have any symptoms of Covid-19.
No appointments are necessary as the centres operate on a ‘drop-in’ basis. The test itself takes around 30 minutes and you can either wait or get your results sent on to you by phone or text.
You should not attend any of these testing centres if you are displaying any symptoms (even mild) of Covid-19 and instead arrange a test via NHS Inform as outlined above. More information on Covid-19 testing for people without symptoms, including details of local opening times and locations, can be found via the links below.
