Forestry Commission’s Easter Eggstravaganza
Forestry Commission Scotland is inviting local children and families to come and enjoy Larbert Woods on NHS Forth Valley Royal Hospital grounds hunting for hidden treasures this Easter.
Taking place on Friday 3rd April from 10.30am – 12.30pm, the hunt is part of the Commission’s partnership with NHS Forth Valley to encourage the use of woodland around Forth Valley Royal Hospital.
The Easter egg hunt will take place in Larbert Woods where you can learn about your local woods, look out for deer and birds as well as taking part in an Easter egg hunt through the revitalised green space. Find a bunny in an egg and receive an Easter treat from community ranger, Gordan Harper.
Gordon Harper, Community Ranger, Forestry Commission Scotland commented: “Easter is a wonderful time to witness nature coming back to life after the long winter; we want to celebrate this by getting as many families outdoors over the weekend.
“With the arrival of warmer weather it’s a great excuse to get out and get active, making sure the kids don’t spend all holiday in front of the TV. Larbert Woods is a perfect setting for a fun, family-friendly egg hunt; you can stay for hours after exploring the woods, have a picnic and spotting wildlife.
Tom Steele, Director of Strategic Projects and Facilities at NHS Forth Valley Royal Hospital said: “This Easter event is a great way to get families outside and enjoy the beautiful grounds that surround our hospital.
We hope attending the event will encourage the local community to come back and visit again, perhaps bringing the family dog for a walk or simply to learn more about nature and enjoy the fresh air.”
Gordon and other Forestry Commission staff will be on hand during the event to talk about the wildlife and trees and answer any questions that the children might have.
If you’d like to join the Easter egg hunt, meet Gordon and the team at 10.30am on the lawn in front of Larbert House. All children are to be accompanied by an adult and the cost is £1 per child taking part, no booking is required, please just turn up on the day.
Larbert Woods are beside Forth Valley Royal Hospital on Stirling Road in Larbert. There is a patient/visitor car park at Forth Valley Royal Hospital.
