Get On Board! – New Board Members Sought to Help Shape Local Health Services

NHS Forth Valley is recruiting three new Non-Executive Board members to play a key role in shaping the future of health services across the area.

Neena Mahal, Interim Chair of NHS Forth Valley, said: “This is an exciting time to join the Health Board as it seeks to develop and deliver an ambitious new healthcare strategy to improve the health of local people and continues work to progress our Culture Change and Compassionate Leadership programme across the organisation.

“We’re interested in hearing from people with a real interest in the work of NHS Forth Valley who share our vision and values and want to make a positive difference to the local communities we serve. Applications are encouraged from people with a wide range of backgrounds who meet the specific requirements of the roles as set out in the person specification and who can bring wide and varied perspectives to our work.

“Like all parts of the public sector, we face increasing financial challenges and rising demand for our services so for one of the roles we are looking for individuals with experience in managing finance and/or risk. We are also looking for people with a background in governance and individuals with experience of leading or overseeing change and transformation to help respond to the changing demands on health and care services.”

Non-Executive Board members work with closely with NHS Forth Valley’s Senior Leadership Team and staff across the organisation and play a key role in setting the Board’s strategic direction, monitoring and reviewing performance, managing and overseeing risk, creating the right culture and, as ambassadors of the Board, engaging widely with staff, partner organisations and other key stakeholders.  Non-Executive Board members must therefore be able to think strategically and creatively, have independent views, embody NHS Scotland’s values and have the ability to challenge in a constructive manner.

The appointments, which are remunerated, will be for up to four years and will require a commitment of an average of eight hours over the course of a week to contribute to the work of the Board, including participation in Board meetings and governance committees and the Integration Joint Boards of the two local Health and Social Care Partnerships.
