Please note: You will meet your clinician for the first time on the day of your procedure.

Upon receiving your appointment, please consider the following:
1. Do You Want to Speak to the Surgeon Beforehand?
- If you’re comfortable meeting the surgeon on the day of your procedure, no further action is needed.
- If you would prefer to discuss the procedure in advance, please call us to arrange a separate appointment.

2. Type of Anaesthetic
Your operation will be performed using a local anaesthetic.
On the Day of Surgery
You will:
- Meet your surgeon
- Discuss the recommended procedure in full
- Have the opportunity to ask any final questions
Important Medication Advice
If you are taking any of the following medications:
- Aspirin
- Warfarin
- Clopidogrel
- Persantin
- Rivaroxaban
- Or any other blood-thinning medication
Please consult your GP or our department at least 10 days before your appointment. You may need to stop taking these medications prior to surgery.
X-ray Requirement
You may be required to have an x-ray before seeing the surgeon. Please arrive 30 minutes before your appointment and go to Area 6 Out-Patients at Forth Valley Royal Hospital to collect your x-ray request form.
