Paediatric Podiatry is our service for patients under the age of sixteen years.
What we assess and how we treat the presenting conditions
Ingrown toenails are assessed by a specialist Podiatrist and treated conservatively unless removal of the nail is deemed necessary.
For issues causing pain, walking issues or foot/toe deformities a MSK (Musculoskeletal) assessment may be necessary. The assessment may include all or some of the following – weight bearing tests, gait analysis (examination of walking), shoe wear assessment, examination of the joints of the foot and/or ankle, assessment of the ligaments, analysis of balance and muscle/tendon strength.
Common conditions
- Sever’s (heel pain)
- Toe walking
- In-toeing
- Flat feet
- Foot/toe deformities
- Ingrown toenail
Insoles
Insoles may be prescribed by the Podiatrist if necessary. There are a variety of different insoles from off-the-shelf style insoles to individually customised prescription insoles dependant on the patient and their current issue.
Shoe wear
Shoe wear may be assessed and sometimes will need to be changed to improve symptoms.
