The Specialist Rehabilitation Service is a nurse and AHP led rehabilitation unit which provides specialist care, mainly for patients with a wide range of neurological and other conditions who have complex rehabilitation needs. The service is also part of the Scottish Major Trauma Network.
Staff often work with people with brain injuries and a wide range of neurological conditions, but can see any patient who requires intensive rehabilitation from two or more disciplines (e.g., physiotherapy and speech and language therapy).
The service is made up of nurses, nursing assistants, therapists (including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists and dietitians), therapy assistants and clinical psychologists. Support can also be provided by a rehabilitation consultant, pharmacists, psychiatrists and orthotists, if required.
