Interested in becoming a volunteer?
We are currently looking for more helping hands to join our band of volunteers who work across the health service in Forth Valley.
Around 200 people already work tirelessly in a number of areas; these include volunteers who assist patients in the oncology unit, children’s ward and discharge lounge. Others represent the views of patients and the general public at meetings and events.
A number of volunteers are recruited through organisations such as the Retired and Senior Volunteer Programme (RSVP), Royal Voluntary Service (RVS), Radio Royal, and Friends of Forth Valley Royal Hospital.
- Fill out our Volunteering Registration of Interest form online.
Induction and training will be provided, regular support from staff to help you fulfil your role effectively and reimbursement of out of pocket expenses. Please note you should be aged 18 or older.
As well as helping others, volunteering also provides an opportunity to gain new skills and experience such as:
- work experience
- personal development
- learn from and be supported by staff
- increase your knowledge of health
- participate in a wider social life
- access relevant training
Volunteering opportunities with third sector organisations
NHS Forth Valley aims to work closely with our third sector partners to encourage and support volunteering across our local area. In this section, we will share details of third sector partners recruiting volunteers, as well as events, clubs and opportunities available across Forth Valley.
Walk Forth Bumps and Babies Walking Group
Walk Forth Bumps and Babies offers walks around the Stirling and Clackmannanshire areas. Walks usually last around an hour, followed by a chance to meet for a chat in a local coffee spot. Mums, dads, grandparents and childminders are all welcome.
Those who attend the walking group have shared that it supports their physical and emotional wellbeing during the weeks and months of early parenthood. New activities include a toddler walk for graduates of the buggy walks and a walking group for pregnant women, helping them to build social networks and improve fitness.
I am now fitter than I have ever been, in body and mind. There is nothing better than leading a walk and hearing the new parents chatting away behind you. As a retired midwife, I still have a network of former colleagues who have helped spread the word about us over the years.
Further details about activities and meeting places can be found on the Walk Forth Bumps and Babies Facebook page and Walk Forth Bumps and Babies Instagram page.
