Public offered first look inside the new Doune Health Centre
Members of the public, patients and local residents in the Doune area are being invited to have the first glimpse of the new Doune Health Centre, ahead of its opening to patients on Monday 2nd September 2019. Come along between 2pm and 4pm and 6pm to 8pm on Thursday 29th August 2019. No booking is required and staff will meet visitors at the entrances to the new Health Centre.
Morag Farquhar, NHS Forth Valley Head of Estates & Capital Planning, said: “This is a great chance for local residents and community groups to come along and see the new facilities first hand and speak to some of the staff involved in the development.”
The new £2.7 million health centre replaces a smaller building which has become overcrowded due to the growing population of the village. It will see a wide range of services delivered locally. These include physiotherapy, podiatry, counselling and could include services to support people with long term conditions such as diabetes, dementia and COPD (a common respiratory disease).
In addition, there will be more opportunities to help patients improve their own health by providing extra support and advice on diet, exercise, managing medicines and giving up smoking. Also included are improved facilities for the existing GP Practice as well as accommodation for a range of visiting outpatient and services such as antenatal and child health clinics. Around £200,000 is being invested in new equipment, furniture and fittings.
