Spring vaccination programme ending soon – time to refresh your COVID 19 protection
NHS Forth Valley is urging everyone offered a COVID-19 vaccine this spring to come forward, get vaccinated and stay protected – because COVID-19 hasn’t disappeared. With the vaccination window closing on 30 June, it’s important to get your vaccine now if you’re eligible.
Like last year, the spring vaccination programme is focused on protecting those most vulnerable to COVID-19. This includes older adults in care homes, people aged 75 and over, and those with a weakened immune system, as they are at greater risk of illness from the virus.
If you’re invited for a COVID-19 vaccination this spring, it’s because experts know that staying up to date with your vaccine offers the best protection. Don’t miss your chance – come forward before 30 June and make sure, you’re protected.
You get your strongest protection from the vaccine in the first three months after getting it. Over time, this protection gradually reduces so, even if you had your winter vaccination, it’s important to get another dose this spring.
Dr Calum Robertson, Specialty Doctor in Public Health and Immunisation Coordinator, NHS Forth Valley said: “COVID-19 can be serious, especially for older adults and those with weakened immune systems, even if you feel fit and healthy. COVID-19 infection spreads easily all year round, not just in the winter months. Vaccination can be the difference between a mild illness and needing hospital care. Protection from vaccination reduces over time, so it’s important those eligible come forward to top up their protection. There are a range of convenient options available, including booked appointments, local drop-in clinics and participating pharmacies, making it as easy as possible to get vaccinated.”
The spring vaccination programme runs from 1 April 2026 until 30 June 2026. If you’re eligible, you will have received an invitation by letter, email or text message, depending on your selected communication preference.
You can reschedule your appointment online via the patient portal or by calling the National Vaccination Helpline on 0800 030 8013.
Alternatively, you can attend one of our local drop-in clinics, open 8:30am – 7:15pm on the following dates:
- Vaccination Centre, Falkirk Community Hospital – Monday 8 June to Friday 12 June
- Vaccination Centre, Stirling Health and Care Village – Monday 8 June, Wednesday 10 June, Friday 12 June and Saturday 13 Jun
