Who are we

Livilands Resource Centre is a mental health resource centre which is part of the Health and Social Care Partnership for Clacks and Stirling. We are part of the statutory services for Mental Health Care and Treatment and are classified as secondary care services. Our team consists of Psychiatrists, mental health nurses, occupational therapists, psychologists and social work.

What do we do

We provide mental health assessment and treatment for people aged 18-65 who have moderate to severe mental health difficulties including illnesses such as Schizophrenia, Bi-Polar Illness as well as treatment resistant depression and anxiety. We also provide a treatment pathway for people with a diagnosis of Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder.

The service is made up of 2 teams:

The Day Unit – This team provides psychologically informed group work- STEPPS, Decider Skills, Anxiety Management and DBT are examples of the groups we facilitate. The Day Unit also provide one on one support if required and support individuals through the Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder Pathway.

The CMHT – This team provides support for individuals with severe and enduring mental health problems that require support from home and may have difficulty attending Livilands Resource Centre. They can facilitate illness education, monitoring of medication and mental wellbeing and liaise with other agencies to promote recovery and provide holistic care.

Both teams consist of mental health nursing and occupational therapy, we work closely with the consultant psychiatrist and psychology colleagues to ensure that we provide a thorough person centred service.

How we can be accessed

Livilands Resource Centre can be accessed via a sci gateway referral from the GP, Primary Care Mental Health Services, MHAATS or mental health inpatient wards. The single referral pathway provides direct access to Livilands Resource Centre.

All referrals received are discussed at a weekly multi-disciplinary meeting and then allocated accordingly. If a referral does not meet the criteria for secondary care mental health services, a process is in place to re-direct the referral from one service to another with minimal disruption or loss of time. When a referral is made on an urgent basis it will be reviewed that day by a senior clinician, if it felt the patient does require urgent support then they will allocated an assessment slot within 5 working days. If the individual requires more urgent support the referrer would be contacted and encouraged to utilise acute mental health service MHAATS. If the urgent referral is reviewed and it is not felt to meet the criteria for an urgent assessment we would liaise with the referrer to agree a more suitable time frame. Routine referrals are appointed for assessment within 8 weeks.
