Woodlands Resource Centre
Services, Care and Support Provided
A wide range of assessment, treatment, therapeutic and educational services for local patients and their families is provided. These include individual, group and family therapy and a range of educational courses on managing mental health issues such as depression, anxiety and stress. The Centre also organises a range of personal development, social and vocational activities to help support recovery and improve an individual’s quality of life.
When you arrive for your assessment, please report to reception.
You will then be shown to one of our interview rooms, where you’ll meet with two members of our team who will carry out your assessment. Sometimes students may be present as part of their training.
The assessment usually takes around an hour, but it may take a little longer. Please allow enough time so we can complete a full and accurate assessment.
During the appointment, we may ask you about your current symptoms, how you’ve been feeling, and any relevant past experiences.
All information you share is confidential within the team. The only time we would need to break confidentiality is if you tell us something that indicates a risk of harm to yourself or to someone else.
You do not have to answer any questions you are not comfortable with.
If you need someone to accompany you, that’s absolutely fine. We will speak to you on your own at first, and then – if you wish – we can invite the person supporting you into the appointment later.
After your assessment, your information will be discussed within our multi‑disciplinary team. This includes consultant psychiatrists, mental health nurses, occupational therapists, psychologists, social workers and other specialists. The team will make recommendations about the most appropriate care and treatment options for you.
You will receive the outcome of your assessment within 3 – 4 weeks, and your GP will also be informed in writing.
