Vaccinations for young people
Secondary school pupils
From January to the end of February, all young people in S3 (around 14 years old) will be offered:
Your school will provide details of when vaccination sessions will take place.
Consent forms will be sent to all eligible pupils. Please sign and return these to your school as soon as possible.
Home educated children
Home educated children and young people, and anyone not attending mainstream education, are also eligible for childhood vaccinations.

Meningococcal B (MenB) vaccine
The meningococcal B (MenB) vaccine helps protect against meningococcal group B bacteria, which can cause meningitis and sepsis.

Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination
From the end of February to the end of March, the HPV vaccine is delivered in schools and offered to every S1 pupil (aged 11 to 13).

Flu vaccine
The flu vaccine is given once a year, usually between September and December to all primary and secondary school pupils. Flu viruses change regularly, so a new vaccine is developed each year to provide the best protection.
Parents or carers must complete and return the consent form to the school – even if they do not want their child to receive the vaccine. A child can only be vaccinated if a completed and signed form has been returned.

MMR vaccine
Some young people and adults may be able to get the MMR vaccine if they did not have 2 doses as a child.

SAS Vaccination Mobile Unit
Our SAS Vaccination Mobile Unit will at a number of locations across Forth Valley for those eligible for Shingles, Pneumococcal, RSV and MMR.
