During your pregnancy your midwife will discuss the many opportunities you will have to gain information to support you through your pregnancy.
We will invite you to attend the antenatal education classes when you are around 28 weeks pregnant. Currently each midwifery team runs their own class once a week. The classes run for a four week block and are a great way to learn about labour, birth and looking after your baby. It might be helpful to come along to the antenatal class for your maternity team to get to know parents to be in the local area. However, if this does not suit you, you are welcome to book to attend any other team’s class.

Pregnancy Related Pain Clinic
Lower back and pelvic pain are common problems during pregnancy. Approximately 20% of pregnant women have symptoms which can include pain in the spine, sacro-iliac joint, buttock, hip, coccyx, symphysis pubis joint, lower abdomen and thighs. Visit Women’s Health Physiotherapy for more information.
Feeding
During your pregnancy, your midwife will discuss with you information surrounding infant feeding.
At your booking appointment you will be given an “Off to a good start” booklet, which discuss the benefits of breastfeeding for you and your baby. Further information and films are available at Readysteadybaby.org.uk.
