Wearing a Maternity Belt or Tubigrip may help to support your back and pelvis throughout pregnancy.
Tubigrip
To wear Tubigrip:
- Sit down and place both feet in the Tubigrip then pull up to knee level
- Stand up and pull Tubigrip up towards your pelvis
- Wear as a double layer covering from mid abdomen to approximately hip level
Alternative ways to wear:
- Fold to make a 6 inch band and wear around hips
- One single layer of Tubigrip over bump with folded band around hips
Tubigrip Guidance
- Wear the Tubigrip throughout the day as comfortable
- Ideally wear over underwear but underneath clothing
- Tubigrip should feel comfortable and supportive
- Not for night use
- Remove if you experience any pain, swelling or skin irritation
- Hand wash only in cold water, if required
- Fraying is expected, you may trim with scissors
- Contains natural rubber latex
Maternity Belt
To wear belt:
- Place the belt over the lower back area
- Ensure the label is to the inside right hand side
- Wrap the straps around the pelvis directing them
- forwards and downward to lie under the lower abdomen (bump) and across the pubic bone
- Close the belt using the Velcro fastening at the front
Maternity Belt Guidance
- Wear the belt as required throughout the day.
- Belt should feel comfortable and supportive
- Not for night use
- Remove belt if you experience any pain, swelling or skin irritation
- You may need to remove it if uncomfortable when sitting
- Hand wash only, if required
You should not use the belt if you have had recent vaginal bleeding i.e within the last 4 weeks or if you develop any bleeding in your pregnancy
