Throughout your pregnancy, your midwife will provide encouragement, information and support to help you create your unique pregnancy plan, which covers your pregnancy, labour and the postnatal period.
Your primary midwife will discuss your care plan with you. An important part of that planning is creating a plan for the birth of your baby.
Early Pregnancy Service (EPAS)
The Early Pregnancy Service (EPAS) is available to all pregnant women between 6 and 14 weeks of pregnancy who have bleeding and/or abdominal (tummy) pain.
Appointments are not routinely arranged if you are under 6 weeks pregnant but you will be given some telephone advice. This is because light bleeding is fairly common at this stage in pregnancy and it is usually too early to see anything on scan.
We have designed a leaflet to support you with any symptoms that you may be having and advise you when to seek the attention of the EPAS service.
You can reach EPAS via the contact details below:
Available: Mon – Fri, 8.00am – 2.30pm, Sat 8.00am -11.30am
Phone: 01324 567119
Out with these hours there is recorded telephone advice and guidance on who and what number to contact if immediate support and advice is required.
Birth Plan
A birth plan is a way for you to discuss and document your individual preferences for labour and birth. It can be helpful to involve your birth partner or supporter when writing your birth plan.
There is a section in your electronic notes to document your birth plan. Once this is completed please discuss with your primary midwife.
To access your notes visit the Badger Notes website, or download the Badger Notes app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
For useful information and what to include in your birth plan visit Ready Steady Baby.
You may also choose to write your own birth plan on paper which following discussion with your primary midwife can be scanned into your electronic notes.
Your plans may change as your pregnancy progresses; this may be due to a change in your preferences or related to the wellbeing of you and your baby.
Please note we do not stock all brands of formula milk. If you require more information speak to your midwife.
