This test records your blood pressure over a 24-hour period.

What does the test involve?

A cuff will be placed on your arm and two readings will be taken to check the equipment is working properly.

The monitor will then be attached around your waist on a belt. It will be set to measure your blood pressure:

• Every 15 minutes during the day
• Every hour during the night

What should I do during the test?

You should continue your normal daily activities while wearing the monitor.

However:

• You will not be able to have a bath or shower while the monitor is fitted
• It is advisable to have a bath or shower on the morning of your appointment

How long does it take?

It takes approximately 15 minutes to fit the monitor.

When you return the next day, it should only take a few minutes to remove.

Before your appointment

Please bring a list of any medication you are currently taking with you.

If you are arranging transport, please make sure this is booked for both days.

When will I receive the results?

The results of the test will be sent to the healthcare professional who requested it.
