This test monitors your heart and blood pressure while you walk on a treadmill.
What does the test involve?
Before the test, small sticky electrodes will be placed on your chest to monitor your heart.
You will then be asked to walk on a treadmill. It will start at a slow pace, with the speed and incline gradually increasing during the test.
The test is generally well tolerated.
What should I do before the test?
- Please bring a list of any medication you are currently taking
- If you are unsure about your medication, contact your GP practice or local pharmacy
- Wear comfortable clothing and flat walking shoes suitable for exercise
How long does it take?
The appointment usually takes around 45 minutes, although times may vary slightly.
After the test
After the test, you can take your medication as normal unless you have been advised otherwise by a healthcare professional.
