The Emergency Department at Forth Valley Royal Hospital is there to treat patients with critical illnesses and injuries, like suspected heart attacks, strokes and breathing difficulties, who require emergency care. These include:
- loss of consciousness
- acute confused state and fits that are not stopping
- persistent, severe chest pain
- breathing difficulties
- severe head injuries
- severe bleeding that cannot be stopped
- choking
- severe abdominal pains
- broken limbs
- suspected stroke
Redirection from ED to other Health Services
Patients who attend the Emergency Department with minor or non-urgent illnesses or injuries* may, following an assessment, be asked to attend other more appropriate services. These include the Minor Injuries Unit at Stirling Health and Care Village, your local pharmacist or GP practice or the Urgent Care Centre within Forth Valley Royal Hospital.
*this could include a health issue which has been present for more than three days, which can or is being seen and treated by a pharmacist, dentist or a member of a GP Practice team or where an ongoing treatment plan is already in place.

Emergency Department (Larbert)

Minor Injuries Unit (Stirling)
You may be eligible for treatment at the Minor Injuries Unit, open 9am-9pm. Get directions.
Getting There
The Emergency Department is located to the rear of Forth Valley Royal Hospital, Stirling Road, Larbert, FK5 4WR and is accessible from both directions on the ring road around the building.
Parking
Patient parking is provided opposite the department entrance. This car park has barrier access. Should you be attending the department and need to use this facility you may enter the car park where the barrier will open automatically, although you will require a token from the Emergency Department reception to leave the car park.
The Emergency Department patient car park should not be used for visiting a relative or friend. This is for patients and people attending the department for treatment. A drop off zone is also available at the department entrance.
