New Forth Valley Bereavement Club Set To Continue

A new Bereavement Club for people who have lost a loved one is set to continue following a successful three month pilot.

The Bereavement Breakfast Club, which takes place from 10am to 12noon at Falkirk Golf Club in Camelon, is open to anyone aged 16 and over across Forth Valley. It gives local people an opportunity to come along and meet with others who may be going through a similar experience.

The Breakfast Club is run on an informal basis by NHS Forth Valley’s Bereavement Service and visitors can pop in at anytime and choose whether to chat with others or simply sit and listen while having a breakfast roll and a cup of tea or coffee. People can come along by themselves or are welcome to bring a friend or family member.

NHS Forth Valley Bereavement Service Co-ordinator, Sheena McCorrie, explained: “Often taking the first step to come to a club like this can appear daunting. But the feedback from the first three pilot meetings has been very positive and people told us they found it really helpful to talk to others.

“Loneliness is very much a 21st century problem and after losing a loved one people can often feel very alone and don’t know where to turn to. This new Club aims to provides some company with others who may be going through a similar experience and organisers can also signpost people to additional services if they feel they would benefit from extra support.”

The club will meet on the first Friday of every month (apart from April, July and August due to school holidays) from 10am to 12 noon at Falkirk Golf Club, 136 Stirling Road, Camelon.
