Walking Aid Maintenance
How to Ensure Walking Aids Are Safe to Use
Step 1: Complete the Walking Aid Safety Inspection Checklist.
Step 2: Ensure that the walking aid is at the correct height and is being used correctly by watching these videos: How to measure and use walking aids.
Step 3: If new ferrules are required then please follow the “How to Access & Fit New Ferrules for Walking Aids” guide below. If it is deemed that a new walking aid is required then please contact us through SPR. Contact details can be found below.
Step 4: To return walking aids that are no longer required, please see the Returning Walking Aids page.
How to Access & Fit New Ferrules for Walking Aids
Step 1: Determine if the ferrules on a walking aid need replaced by completing the Walking Aid Safety Inspection Checklist and watching the Ferrules – How to size and replace them video below.
If you feel an assessment for a new walking aid is appropriate, please contact us through the Single Point of Referral as detailed above.
Step 2: Request a stock of ferrules by completing the Ferrules Request Form. (This is for generic requests only. For patient specific requests please contact us through the Single Point of Referral via the details below.)
Step 3: Change the ferrules of the walking aid. Please watch the Ferrules – How to size and replace them video below for guidance.

Speech & Language Therapy
Podiatry
The our team consist of Podiatry Technician, Podiatrists, Clinical Specialists, Advanced Podiatrists, Operational Team Leads and AHP Coordinator alongside Administration staff.
- Treatment of foot Ulceration caused by diabetes, peripheral vascular disease, infection, trauma etc.
- Biomechanical/MSK problems; gait analysis and assessment. Provision of foot orthoses (insoles) that compensate for problems such as flat foot, foot and ankle pain and can also assist with knee, hip and back problems.
- Nail surgery for ingrown toenails and Electrosurgery carried out under Local Analgesia.
- Treatment of foot pathologies and complications within the at risk foot arising. This is aimed at preventing complications such as infection, ulceration; pain and reduced mobility and independence.
